What Can We Do?

Beginning
While there is no surefire way to make your lawn survive during intense heat, we can optimize the chances by following some good practices. Please check these carefully!
MOST IMPORTANT! - Raise the height of cut! We cannot stress enough that this makes a huge difference in your lawn’s ability to survive the summer heat. In fact, our crew routinely reports back that all the lawns that are looking lousy are also the ones that get mowed short. The nicer greener lawns are all mowed above 3 inches in height. While you may like the idea of a close cropped lawn, the grass just cannot survive when so much of it is cut off regularly. For more on good mowing habits, click here.
Also - Water judiciously. Do not attempt to soak the lawn every day. The excess water won’t counteract the heat, it will just create fungal disease problems. Instead of watering daily, try watering longer, but only 3 - 4 days per week. This will keep the surface of the ground from remaining too wet, but it will allow more water to soak deeper into the root zone.
Balanced fertility is also critical. This is our responsibility as your service provider, but we wanted you to know that we are doing our best to maintain a good level of fertility without risking any problems associated with over-fertilizing.
