weed 1n.

  1. a.A plant considered undesirable, unattractive, or troublesome, especially one growing where it is not wanted, as in a garden.

While Creeping Bentgrass is certainly classified as a cool season grass, it could hardly fit this dictionary definition of a weed any better if it had thorns and aggressively killed off every other plant on your property.

Bentgrass can get into your lawn in many ways, but once it does, it creates solid, pale, unsightly splotches in your yard. To make matters worse, the bentgrass does very poorly during the heat of the summer, and tends to brown out and die off. Unfortunately, instead of just dying, it bounces back pretty well and even spreads to make the splotches that much more aggravating the following year.
